How We Create

Go Slow

We recommend that you spend time camping on your land if you can. As you get to know the land is there road noise or ravens at play? How does the wind blow and what path does the sun take from summer to winter solstice?

We help you find the best possible location for the house.  We consider saving the rock outcrop to admire rather than build on it. The old cedar tree and seasonal creek - let’s work with such features as we enter the site, rather than build a road through them.

What plants and rocks do you have on the land to save and recycle? We study this as we create a plan for site preparation and excavation. Often the area that will be excavated for the house foundation yields rubble rock for building roads, driveways, parking and patio subgrades. We will save these materials and reuse them wherever possible. The ferns in the direct path of the excavator, can be saved too, and stored for later plantings. The huge mossy rock in the middle of the proposed road - a landscape gift - set aside to be used as a natural sculpture at your front door entry.
